Jerusalem is one of the most important places for Christians. It is the place where Jesus was crucified and resurrected. On this private Christian walking tour, we will visit the main places connected to Jesus’ story in Jerusalem – the Mount of Olives, the Via Dolorosa, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. This tour is recommended to Christians and non-Christians alike.
Church of the Holy Sepulchre
THE highlight of the tour. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is where, according to tradition, Jesus was crucified, buried, and resurrected. This huge church has many chapels, and on this private walking tour, we’ll visit the main areas of the church and more. We’ll climb up to the top of the Golgotha, where according to tradition Jesus died on the cross, and then see the place where his body was laid before burial. We’ll go down to the place where the Holy Cross was found and also see the empty tomb.
Mount of Olives
Another highlight of a Christian tour in Jerusalem is Mount of Olives. Located to the east of the Old City, it is less of a mountain and more of a hill, but nevertheless, one of the holiest places to Christians, Jews, and Muslims alike. From the top of the mountain, we’ll enjoy a splendid view of Jerusalem and try to follow the story of Jesus through the landscape. We’ll visit the important sites on Mount of Olives, including Gethsemane, where there are some of the most ancient olive trees in Israel.
Via Dolorosa – the Way of Sorrows – is believed to be the path Jesus took on his way to the crucifixion. Today, it passes through the Muslim and Christian quarters of the Old City of Jerusalem, through the hassle and bustle of the market. This might help us picture how Jesus felt while walking through the busy streets, that were full of Passover pilgrims. We’ll start at the first Station of the Cross and continue along the route until ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

How long does it take? Private Christian tours of Jerusalem typically take about 6 hours, depending on your pace and interests. But it’s flexible, so it can take less or more.
When does the tour start? You’re the boss. Tell me when you want to start the tour and I’ll be there on time. I recommend starting the tour early in the morning, so we won’t get caught in the heat of the afternoon.
What do you need to bring? I’ll send you a list before the tour starts, but in general, it’s recommended to bring good walking shoes because the Old City pavements are slippery. Also, modest clothing is required as we will be visiting Christian holy places. And… It’s always good to bring a hat, sunglasses, drinking water, and sunscreen.
How much does it cost? The tour price is 1,200 shekels (about 300 USD) for up to 6 people. This covers my preparation for the tour as well as the guiding itself. Entry fees and taxi rides are not included, but don’t worry – they don’t cost much.
